Today we are looking at the concepts of heavy and light. In school we would have been using balances to determine which things were heavier/lighter but we can still do quite a bit at home. Ask the children to look around the room and identify things that might be heavy e.g. fridge or light e.g. piece of paper. Collect a few items e.g book, picture frame, pot, cup, plastic spoon, piece of paper and ask the child to hold two items in their hand – which object is lighter? heavier? Get two containers which are the same. Fill one with pebbles and on with cotton wool. Which one is lighter? Which is heavier? https://www.folensonline.ie/home/library/programmes/planet-mathsji/ebook/
